TOEFL Writing Skills – Integrated Task

You will need to write two essays for the Writing Skills section of the TOEFL. For the first essay you will read a text and then listen to a presentation on the same topic. You will then need to express your opinion on the matter. This type of questioning is called Integrated Task. For the second essay you will have to form an opinion based on a question. This type of task is referred to as: Independent Task.

This is the last part of your online-test. You should have already done the TOEFL-Diagnostic-Test (Multiple-Choice) or should do it right after this section so that you can receive an evaluation of your TOEFL level. An estimate can only be sent to those individuals who have completed both the Diagnostic-Test and the essays. Tip

Apart from the usual structure (introduction, development, summary), there are many elements that have to be considered when writing TOEFL essays. Pay particular attention to connectors, i.e. connecting words between paragraphs.
